Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda Launches New Curriculum Support Program

Lower Secondary Curriculum. 

The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) Uganda has introduced a new nationwide support program to strengthen the implementation of the Lower Secondary Curriculum (LSC) in schools. The program aims to help teachers adapt to the competency-based approach that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, communication, and practical learning.

Under the new initiative, teachers will receive more training, digital resources, and classroom materials that support project-based learning. The Ministry hopes this will enhance the quality of education and make learning more relevant to real-world needs.

According to officials, the program is also designed to reduce the overload in traditional subject teaching and encourage students to participate actively in class. Schools across the country—both public and private—are expected to benefit.

The Ministry says it will continue monitoring the rollout to ensure that schools implement the curriculum effectively and that teachers receive ongoing support.
